Soil moisture is 72% at a depth of 12 inches. The black rings show through the Access tube indicating the depth of the moisture probe in the root system. It's that easy!

AquaPro Soil Moisture Sensors A fast and easy way to take soil moisture measurements in percent soil moisture, using only one moisture sensor for multiple moisture readings over the entire root zone, in any size area. Here is how you do it:
|
How to save water and increase productivity when you know the moisture profile of the ENTIRE root system. When the bottom of the root zone is quite wet, measuring more than 90% and the top is very dry, less than 60% (these are examples and your crop and soil type may differ, but this is a good place to start) shorten your irrigation time by half. Keep checking the moisture level of the bottom roots. When they have dried out to be much like the top half, increase the length of the next irrigation to penetrate the soil to the bottom of the root zone (it is easy to see how deep the water goes when you use AquaPro's Moisture Probe.) Now go back to shorter irrigation times until the lower roots again need water. This long irrigation followed by a series of shorter irrigation times has many benefits. Not only do you save water, but you do not risk root diseases by keeping the lower roots saturated and lacking in oxygen. Soon you will have modified your irrigation times automatically by observing how deep the water penetrates after each irrigation. Now you can irrigate fertilizer into the root zone, and not beyond it. You just keep on saving and growing when you use AquaPro~Sensors! Seasonal Changes and Plant Maturity AquaPro~Sensors measure soil moisture every inch of the way from the soil surface to the bottom of the access tubes. As your plants mature and the root system extends, it will be necessary to increase irrigation times to provide deeper penetration of irrigation water to satisfy and enhance root growth for maximum plant development. AquaPro will show you when and how much to irrigate. Vineyard's Deficit Irrigation Techniques and Farwell Neutron Probes It has been proven that curtailing irrigation prior to harvesting certain wine grapes will enhance the sugar content, improve the quality of the wine and bring in a higher price to the grower. AquaPro has 2 meter (6 foot) access tubes and a special moisture probe to measure the entire root system's moisture content. Irrigation can be curtailed without risking the health of the vines, or the grapes. The AquaPro~Sensor advantage You own the sensor and can use it as often as needed. A total root system moisture profile gives the irrigator the knowledge to make cost saving changes to irrigation cycles and to make these changes with confidence.
